Welcome to the North of England Dalmatian Club Welfare Service.

The North of England Dalmatian Club have their own geographical welfare society, set up to help with the care and welfare of Dalmatians in need within the area Scottish Borders all the way down to Stafford.

The welfare service was created to assist in the care of all Dalmatians. Sometimes with the right advice the re-homing of the Dalmatian has not been necessary.  If you find you are struggling please get in touch so that we can try and help sort out your problems before the point of no return.  However, it is a sad fact of life that circumstances can change and a home once suitable for a Dalmatian is no longer suitable and you need to find a new home for your dog

Over the years the North of England Dalmatian Club members and others have greatly contributed to the successful re-homing of many Dalmatians. We are very grateful for all their hard work, often taking many hours of their time assessing homes and dogs, transporting dogs, raising funds for the club and providing help to the adopters, all ensuring that our beloved Dalmatians have the opportunity for a new life.

History

In the early days of Dalmatian Welfare there were three organisations/individuals responsible for Dalmatian welfare.

These were the Dalmatian Rescue, located in the South of England, which was coordinated by Phyllis Piper, The North of England Dalmatian Rescue which was run by Susan Gatheral-Graham and the British Dalmatian Club welfare which was operated by Pat Wilson and Pat Kindersley. At that time the North of England Dalmatian Rescue reported annually at the North of England Dalmatian Club A.G.M.

The club wanted to update and realign the rescue service and in April 1998 a draft document was presented to the North of England Dalmatian Club committee by Chris Pickup, and at a later meeting an application to apply for charitable status was discussed, circulated and agreed.

There were several discussions as to what to call the charity, some included Dalmatian Adoption or Dalmatian Assistance League – DAL! However, in 1998 the North of England Dalmatian Club Welfare Service was approved by the North of England Dalmatian Club at their A.G.M, and thereafter was successful in attaining charitable status.
